        Embedded System Firmware Developer


        Main Activities
        The internship aims to train the intern in firmware development on Arm Cortex-M4 microcontroller. Starting from the hardware project and software requirements. The trainee will have to define the firmware specifications, implement the firmware and test it. A command-line man-machine interface (CLI) must be implemented on the device on which a user can send commands. The microcontroller must parsify the command (verifying that there are no errors in it) and implement it.
        To implement the commands, the trainee will have to understand the operation and command the hardware with which the microcontroller interfaces, such as:

        • UART-RS232 converter

        • SPI-CAN converter

        • CAN transceivers

        • ADCs and DACs

        • Timers

        • Buck DC-DC converter

        The internship will train the intern on different software skills, such as:

        • Definition of software specifications;

        • Real time free operating system RTOS;

        • Development of low-level drivers on microcontroller;

        • UART, CAN, SPI, USB communication lines;

        • ADC, DAC and timer peripherals

            Network analysis and threat detection


            Main activities
            Tierra has been ISO 27001 certified since 2019 and continuously improves its Security Management System through tool and service implementations. Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) are solutions that provide monitoring, detection, and alerts of security events and incidents. The goal is integrating the SIEM platform implemented with a new open-source threat detection engine, which provides functionalities for intrusion detection (IDS), intrusion prevention (IPS). From there, the incident response team can analyze the data in one place to understand whether it poses a threat.
            The main activities are the evaluation, comparison and study of available open-source tools and opportunities for integration with existing SIEM. Implementation of the intrusion detection (IDS) and intrusion prevention (IPS) tool chosen alongside the IT team, which has already followed the implementation of SIEM. In relation to the identified resource and the training offers on the market, the possible use of training to support the implementation of the chosen tool will also be considered.

            The intern will be trained in the following skills:

            • Analysis of the main open-source intrusion detection (IDS) and intrusion prevention (IPS) tools on the market

            • Implementation of the selected tool

            • Report on the use of the tool and evidence of benefits in terms of safety
